1968 Triumph TR250

Commission #: CD2976L
Manufactured: unknown
Owned since: 1977
Status: Restored once in '77, undergoing 2nd

I purchased this car in 1977 for $200. It was really rough, having been abandoned in a field behind the owner's house, unprotected from the elements. I purchased it in Richmond, Virginia , where I was living at the time. A neighbor happened to be a great mechanic and had connections to a foreign car junk yard, so we proceeded with its first restoration. A year later, it was running like a charm with many new parts, new paint and a few goodies, like a set of Webers, headers and wire wheels. I moved to NYC in 1980 and the car was driven to Connecticut, where it lives now. The first couple of years in Connecticut really caused it to degrade, because unfortunately, it had to be stored outside...my old friend, "Rust" began to rear its ugly head. It wasn't driven very frequently either, leading to other undesirable consequences. In 1984 it was garaged after my wife and I moved to Connecticut to our "new" 1750's home. It seems that I like old things( no I'm not talking about my wife!). Since losing my job in Advertising about 6 months ago, I have been putting some serious time into getting this old friend back on the road again. With the help of some very talented friends here, and some great advice from those on the "List", she's running very strong. Next steps: Rebush, rewire, and then attack the body..repair, repaint. I love this car..It has been with me for a long time..I know every inch of it..every quirk..and there are many. There's nothing like the sound and feel of a Triumph! I never got over the thrill of driving one since I owned a beautiful 1964 TR4..which I later raced. Next spring, I plan to drive it to Brewster, Massachusetts (Cape Cod) where it will be garaged, driven on weekends and live out its final days with me! If anyone happens to be in the area, please contact me..I'd love to see your car!
