I was introduced to TR's in the early 70's by a friend who bought a TR3 at college and brought it home. After driving it, I was smitten. Having zero mechanical knowledge, and not much more mechanical apptitude, I went through a series of pieces of junk starting in 72 (1 TR3, 2 TR4's) before I found a really fine 67 TR4A solid axle car with SU's early 74. I wish I still had that car, although selling it enabled to buy a new 74 TR6 on September 20, 1974. I still own that car, and have driven it to many VTR Conventions. The TR6 is in one of my attachments. This photo was taken at the annual British Car Festival in Des Plaines, IL.
I have been a member of SCCA as a worker for 15 years, and really had the bug to race as well. Although my head said Honda, my heart said TRiumph, and I decided to go vintage racing in a TR. In 92 I found a beat up, worn out TR4A race car in West Virginia. Around the same time, I started meeting up with more and more TR racers (including Jack Drews, Joe Alexander, and Jim Hill), who have helped tremendously. It took a lot of time, and much more $$$ than I anticipated, but in 99 I finally went racing. In that photo, it is MY car that is going in the RIGHT direction. ;-). This photo was taken at my second race, at Grattan Raceway in Grattan, MI.
The third photo is of me (duh!), taken during my first ever racing weekend, last June at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in Rockton, IL.
