1957 Triumph TR3

Commission #: TS 16162 L
Manufactured: 1957
Owned since:
Status: Driver

This is my '57 TR3, TS16162 L, which I've recently finished resurrecting.  It has been a joy to work on, and I look forward to driving to shows and just playing whenever I can. Its original color was beige, with stone (beige) interior, and a white top (yuck!), according to BMHIT.   When I got the car, someone had begun a restoration by painting the body British Racing Green, but hadn't touched the floor pans or inner sills, or trunk floor, all of which looked like swiss cheese.  I took it down to the nuts and bolts, all in my garage at home, took the body tub and panels to a body shop, and the games began.   The car had a TR3A apron, which I replaced, thanks to Hemmings (sold the 3A apron for what the 3 apron and grille, cost me!); otherwise, all the exterior sheet metal is original, as far as I can tell.  The engine is original, rebuilt to 2187cc; transmission is all synchro, and I assume it is from a TR4.  Runs great, and, as I said, am looking forward to a spring and summer of driving.
