My love affair with Triumphs began when my best friend bought a TR-6 brand new in 1970. We were both just 16 at the time and his car was the envy of all us kids. In 1971 I managed to buy a 67 GT6 for $1800 Canadian from the original owner. The car was very clean and gave me very little problems other than tearing out transmissions from driving it too hard. I have since owned another GT6, a Primrose 75 TR6, and a Brown 76 TR6. I should have kept the '76 as I was the second owner and the car was documented as one of the last 6 imported to Canada by B.L.M. It had overdrive and only 20,000 miles when I sold it (dumb). Then came a period of years with no Triumphs, but in the back of my mind I always wanted a 250. The limited build, accompanied by the curvaceous lines made this car most desirable. In the spring of 2001 I decided to get serious about a sports car and set out to find a good 250, ready to drive. Even though as a car dealer I have the facility to restore a car, I did not want to go through the effort. I found this car on EBAY. I live about 400 miles North of Seattle and the car was in San Francisco, about 1200 miles away due South. I contacted the seller and this sounded like the car for me so I bought it sight unseen. I flew into San Francisco and the owner picked me up at the airport in the Triumph. We drove through town and out over the Golden Gate bridge to a shop where I had an opportunity to inspect my purchase. The car was exactly as described. I bought it from the 2nd owner who had bought it from a family friend who had bought it new. The car has B.L.M. optional American Racing Wheels with Triumph center caps. These wheels are made of magnesium and extremely rare. I jumped in the car at 3:30 in the afternoon and headed north, arriving home the next afternoon in time for supper. The car has been perfect and is exactly what I wanted. The paint and upholstery are original and the car has absolutely no rust. I will have to replace the carpets one day but other than that it is my seasonal daily driver and I love it.
